Well here's what happened in 2005, my first year here...(we're not counting all the conception and stuff in 2004 - that's not really something I'm supposed to know about, for a little while, anyway). I'm also starting in May for the same reason ;)

June 3, 2005   (back)

Well, things were getting kinda tight inside Mommy as the month drew to an end and, although I had planned to stay a while longer, I decided that May 30th was the day to head out and see this world I'd heard muffled sounds coming from.  As far as I could tell, there were plans for an eviction later in the day and since "induction" didn't sound too pleasant, I took matters into my own hands (little cute tiny pretty hands, too, if you ask me).
After lulling Mommy to sleep with a few affectionate kicks and nudges the night before, I got things going early in the morning.  Mommy finally woke up around 1:30 am and finally realized what I was up to a little while later.  She woke Daddy up and they got ready to go to the hospital along with Oma.  After a short car ride, we got to the hospital at 4 am and got checked out.  I had widened things to about 5 cm since I had already been planning for the last few weeks an escape route if things got too crowded.
After a couple of hours I had things opened a few more centimetres (sounds slow doesn't it) and then the doctor drained off my comfy cushion of fluid (bag of waters for you clinical types).  Mommy got a little less happy as I had pretty much committed to leaving and didn't want to waste any more time.
Around 9 am we had things almost ready to go and by 9:30 Mommy was told to start pushing.  I tried to help by pushing with my feet but I don't think it did much more than annoy my Mom but what else could I do?  I had already moved things along pretty well so I figured Mom could handle the rest.
At 10:21 am (or so I'm told, the whole 'telling time' thing still has me baffled with sticks and numbers and circles) I made my first public appearance.  Daddy cut my cord since I could now breathe with my lungs (I tried to guess what they were there for over the last few weeks but the best I could come up with was something to do with swimming) and my last physical connection to my mother was lost forever (no guilt-trip there Daddy, honest).  I responded by using these new lungs to announce my arrival and although I got a pretty good response from the crowd, Mommy was keeping the doctors busy fixing her up.
I weighed in at 7 lbs 13 ounces (the nurse started with 3 thousand and some grams but I can't count that high so I was glad when she converted it).  I was measured at 21.5 inches long with a head circumference of 14.5 inches (hey, you need a big brain to be able to get this stuff on the web, you know).
The rest of the day was a blur - well actually most everything was still a blur - as Oma and Grandma visited first.  I remember Opa and Aunt Selina visiting as well as Uncle Stephen and Aunt Cyndi.  On top of that, I got a bath since I was a bit of a mess and couldn't get near a mirror to freshen up.
I finished out the month with visits from Uncle Tony (kinda strange guy) and Aunt Theresa.  I even had my first starring appearance in "The Demonstration Bath" along with a nice nurse named Jennifer.
Since June is here and I'm only 3 days old, starting a new month wasn't that big a deal.  The highlight so far has been seeing my new room.  I'd heard good things about it, but seeing is believing.
