2003 - Our First Year together

    We started January off with a rush - mostly to get things booked for our August wedding.  Officially, our year together started on Aug 9, 2003 so I'll continue from there.
     After the wedding, we headed off to Killarney Mountain Lodge south of Sudbury for our first honeymoon.  We weathered the big black out well since our only indication that it happened was that the fan in our room went off.  The lodge has generators for cooking meals and the dimmed lights for dinner made things even that much more romantic.
     Back in the real world, we began our lives together living at 190 Mill St., a second floor apartment with a good deal of character including green carpets with lots of paint (long story).  Mom Zylstra stayed in town for a bit and came with us to Peterborough to open our gifts and then headed back to Winnipeg.
     The fall brought a new school year and a new car for Krista to replace her aging Neon.
     Our idyllic world came crashing to a halt when a new tenant moved in downstairs.  Aside from the noise, things went from bad to worse as the heat started to falter with the coming of winter (a clothes-dryer beside the thermostat and broken pipes in a radiator heating system didn't help) so we were grateful for a call from another landlord that an apartment we had looked at in the spring had become available.
     We celebrated our first Christmas together with a real tree and ended the year with many grand plans for the next.
